Seattle/Tacoma v. 88

Seattle is the home of EMP: Experience Music Project.  Very cool place.

planning document
Our Tuesday plan was to visit the Pacific Science Center, have lunch at the Space Needle, then Trapeze at Emerald City Trapeze Arts.

We thought our plans were trashed, when we, along with  a throng of other parents and kids, were greeted by closed gates- since the Science Center is closed on Tuesdays from September to May... So, we wandered around a little, then discovered this GREAT museum, also in the shadow of the Space Needle, with the uninspiring name- Experience Music Project. We made a music video- didn't have to buy it (though we did buy a photo of us making it).  Becca and I played guitars, keyboards, drums, in our own private sound proof rooms- FUN. We could have done a few days there easily.  Our friend, Jerry O'Brien, described to us his very fun, but completely different visit there.  It's worth a return trip!

Tacoma is the home of Bob's sister, Patsy, and her husband, Bob Wolf.  Very cool people!  Bob Wolf turned 90 this year, and loves baseball, so we had a skybox experience for him at Seattle Mariners Stadium. That's him on the end giving a thumbs up to our "box-mates", who, after seeing his name and age on the scoreboard, were congratulating him on reaching his milestone. His quote: "Now THIS is the way to watch a ballgame!"  Later in the week we had a fun time at the Tacoma Raniers minor league game.  Becca and about 300 other kids were the first 100 kids (yes, I meant to write that) who ran with Rhubarb the Moose during the game.  She said it was mass chaos....but fun :).  She spent the rest of the game hanging out with the choir who sang the National Anthem.

Can you see the rainbow right behind Patsy and Becca?  We had a great visit!

Seattle is also the home of Pike Place Market, Starbucks, and Kristine (Naylor) Greene! Very Cool!

Kristine spent a few hours tour-guiding us around the market.  We just missed the fish throwing, but we saw so much else, it didn't matter!

This is the original Starbucks.  The line was way too long for us!

There is an entire narrative just in this sign.  In fact, I think it would be fun to assign this as a prompt for a creative writing assignment.  Whoever thought stick people could tell so many stories?

Seen at Pike's Market!

Becca had three trapeze sessions in Seattle.  All her instructors in every city have been great.  These folks, though, stand out.  They are just a little more encouraging; a little more forgiving. I didn't think that was possible, since the New York and San Francisco folks really were wonderful.  Emerald City was outstanding.

Omigosh!  That's enough- but there is more! Pinball, skydiving, lunch at the Space Needle, and Armed Forces Day at Ft. Lewis. I'll save it for tomorrow.....
