Becca and I took the ferry from Lanai to Maui and spent 3
days there. We really made the most of
the time we had.
She had her first surfing lesson with the Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy.

Whales were breeching (look in the background of the photo) and slapping right behind the
surfers!
We learned that we were there at prime whale watching time.
Humpback whales
travel 3000 miles from Alaskan waters to Hawaii to mate and have babies. We went on an excursion with Pacific Whale
Watch and saw over 20 whales- mommas with babies, males competing with each
other for the opportunity to mate, and whales singing. This video is actual
whale song- just listen- watching might make you sea-sick!
Haleakelau National Park was an awesome place to learn about
how Hawaii was formed, and to see the sunrise- above the clouds
| No hair comments- It was a 2:30 AM pick up! |
Then bike down the mountain- bike, helmet, gloves, jacket, and pants are provided by the tour operator.

Now on to Oahu with the whole family!
