Discovery Cove v. 64

Discovery Cove, part of Sea World Orlando, was fun, unique, educational, relaxing- a simply awesome, possibly once in a lifetime experience.

There is just too much to send in an email, so I will include lots more at the blog site, witwaw2012.blogspot.com and post a bunch of photos and videos on facebook.

Becca was a trainer for a day- 6 hours shadowing trainer Jes with one other “trainer for a day”.

The day started at 8 AM with a little orientation and breakfast.  Food all day is included, and everyone gets a wet suit, snorkel and mask.  Keep the snorkel, turn in the wet suit and mask when you are done.

Bob and I checked out the lazy river, which traveled through the aviary.  There are snorkeling areas, zoo/habitat areas, shark and ray areas.  There is so much to see and do, and no lines anywhere, since they limit attendance each day.  Becca did lots more than we did!
hanging with the sloth

feeding a shark
petting the shark!

The highlight of the day, though, was without a doubt, the dolphin experience.

 We kissed them,
We tickled them,

We hugged them,

We hitched rides!

Becca, being trainer for a day, got a “two foot push”!

Becca’s trainer day ended with a big splash
We spent the last few hours hanging out in the river with our lovely 13 year old...

The downside?  It was expensive.  When coupled with the 14 day window in which admission to Sea World and Aquatica is included, and for $20 more Busch Gardens is also included, the cost becomes more palatable.  Booking on the web site was a little balky too.  I ended up calling to make sure I booked correctly.
