Los Angeles v. 77

Becca had a list.  Audience at "The Price Is Right".  She's not 18- didn't have to do that.  Storage Wars auction.  Timing made that impossible (whew...).  Hollywood Walk of Fame and the HOLLYWOOD sign.  That was innocent enough.  We bought Popeye's for a homeless man.  We GPS'ed the Muppets star...and found it :). Right near the Mickey Mouse statue.
In looking for an audience experience, we came across a web show called IMO.  It's a vapid all girl teenage version of "The View" that was taping all weekend.  She LOVED it.
It was great to see Erin Conway at a Dodgers' game.  Is that one...two...or three strikes you're out?
The Santa Monica Pier was pretty cool.  It closed at 6PM during the week, but we got enough of it to take a few rides, play a few games, and peek in the windows at the carousel from "The Sting".
We took a walk on the Strand down to Venice Beach.  What a strange experience that was!  I read that the "Muscle Beach" area where body builders show off with outdoor weight equipment.  We didn't see it- we were overwhelmed by what the Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation calls "a virtual sidewalk circus, a walk 'n' rolling skin show".  That description is meant to attract visitors...

I don't know....  Disney is more attractive to me...  Before Alaska, we went to California Adventure, and after we went to Disneyland.
Less than 2 years until she REALLY drives!

We were at the ticket window to see the Anaheim Angels.  A guy came up to us and said, "Stop- here." He handed us 3 tickets, said his wife and daughters got a better offer.  We bought him a beer inside, and enjoyed the game on him.  We must have looked pretty safe to him!
The view from our seats
Angels Stadium was easy to find, and much less expensive than many other parks.  We even saw people bringing food in.  Our "host" carried in Subway.  At most parks you are lucky if they let you bring in bottled water.  The rock pile in center field was installed when Disney owned the Angels.  They took out some "garish" football seats, and replaced them with a venue for water fountains and fireworks. Some say it gives pitchers an advantage as the daytime sun reflects off the rocks behind a righty.  I just think it is one of those quirky things to love about a ball park.

So we got through LA without taking one of those "Where the stars live" tours.  Thank goodness!
