Walt, Georgia, and Heather Metzler are great friends and perfect hosts for our visit to Oahu. Walt was my first (and best) wrestling coach. Without Walt, I don't wrestle, NO New York Athletic Club, NO West Point, NO Jan, NO Bob, Maria, Danny, or Becca. What a horrible alternative life!! Thanks Walt.
When in Hawaii, start with a Luau.
A couple of lessons and now the Meyer's are surfers!
Put us all in an outrigger canoe and we are dangerous!
A beautiful day of golf- especially hole 13.
Swimming with and kissing the dolphins- what a treat!
A walk with Jan on Kailua Beach- my favorite (Jan, not the beach!)
Little cabins on the beach at Bellows airfield.
A thoughtful visit to Pearl Harbor.
"Fresh" pearl earrings, necklaces, and rings for all the girls.
On to the Big Island
Deb and Doug Adams gave us a great warm welcome. They are classmates of Jan's- our trip has reconnected us with many, many friends, making this the best part of our journey.
We went to the Mauna Kea observatory (tallest mountain in the world) with Deb and Doug. We saw a beautiful sunset. The last sunset you can see in the US. Breath taking. Bec and I made a snowman in Hawaii!
Volcano National Park: seeing the orange glow of the active volcano lava pool at night was nature at its most awesome.
Some favorites: Zip lining, SNUBA (not a misspelling), malasadas, garlic shrimp, shaved ice, ATV tour, horseback riding.
| Bob, Maria, Ben, Lindsey and Danny- ready for ATV action! |
The best West Point Founders Day we have ever attended. almost 300 attendees from the classes of 1943 to 2012. A very moving speech by Gen
The highlight, however, was young Bob being fed dessert and dancing with the beautiful Hula girls at the luau.
ALOHA to all!
