Oakland v. 84

People kept saying, "Oakland? Really?" Hmmm....  So we had a healthy skepticism when we pulled in to the RV park- "Trailer Haven"  It was just after dark, and we had called ahead, so they were expecting us. The registrar was very nice. The welcoming committee consisted of several cats and a mangy little dog- "We've been trying to catch him for years!"   We read the sign that said, "No permanent residents", but clearly some of the trailers had been there for years!  It was a trailer park, with a few sites for overnighters.  It was quiet and convenient.  We only cringed a little when we heard a loud knock on the trailer next door, "Sheriff's Department!"  They were just checking on a resident they hadn't seen in a while.....  He was fine.  Just looking out for each other.

Becca likes "on field experiences".  She has joined "Kid's Club" for most of the teams we are seeing, and she will get a bag, lanyard, or hat, and some free kid ticket vouchers (bring your parents...).  She loves to run the bases after games, and she's done it a few times.  Some teams take forever to get their act together and let the kids run.  The line at the Dodgers game was ridiculously long, and 20 minutes after the game ended the kids hadn't started to run yet.  Becca and Bob opted out.  The Oakland A's aced this one.  Kids were running within 10 minutes, and they were done with the whole thing, including photos in about 45 minutes.

Not sure about his backstory...Didn't ask.

We checked out masstimes.org for a church near us, and realized we were within 20 minutes of my Aunt Delores in Moraga, CA. We arranged through my cousin Tom, and it was so nice to go to dinner with her at the restaurant she worked at for many years.  Par for the course, we forgot to take pictures.  That is sad...

On to San Francisco!
