Kansas City v. 22

Are we in Kansas? or Missouri?  Kansas City is confusing...  It (or they) is actually 2 cities split by the Missouri River.  Despite the blistering heat, we did some really fun things in both cities.  We met Sister Wilmarie and Sister Nancy Rose, of the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration at KC Royals stadium for a day at the game.  Who knew you could buy individual tickets for an air conditioned suite?
Wilmarie, Nancy, Bob, Becca, Jan, Cheryl, and Glenn

Nancy's sister and brother in law, Cheryl and Glenn, were visiting as well, so we made it a party!  Did the Royals win?  Hmm.. can't remember, but we had fun!

Becca served her first Mass after the game at St.Cyril.  Smallest Mass we've ever been to!  We were early (really!), and the parking lot was empty, so Bob and Bec went in to check that there actually was a Mass.  Becca asked the priest if he wanted her to serve, and the rest is history.  There were 7 people in the building for Mass, including the priest, the 2 folks who set up the church, us, and the musician.  Memorable :).

We visited Crown Center and the train station after hours to check out parking for the next day, but never made it back. Beautiful area-next trip.

We debated (for about 30 seconds) going sight-seeing in 105' downtown KC or soaking at the Schlitterbahn (that IS how it is spelled) on the Kansas side.  We hadn't seen enough of Kansas, so we HAD to go to the waterpark!

This was FUN!  We thought we were getting the "lazy river", but they added rapids (tame enough for the average floater...).  We would come here without kids!  There are traditional water rides with the long stairways, tubes, and spirals, but they also have rides for which the lines are in the water.

Great for another 106 degree day.  We were so happy we made this choice!
